Gonzaga University is a Roman Catholic private institution in Spokane. It was established in 1887 after the Jesuit saint Aloysius Gonzaga by the Society of Jesus. Father Joseph Cataldo, SJ, led the institution's establishment. The university offers a wide selection of programs for bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees. It has a total of seven colleges, including the School of Business Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, and School of Law.
The university faced a scandal when the Center for Investigative Reporting made public that the Cardinal Bea House was home to priests who had issues with sexual abuse from the 1970s up to 2016. In 2016, the last predatory priest moved out of the house.
At present, the main campus of Gonzaga has a total of 105 buildings. The university houses peculiar masterpieces, which are mostly historical religious figures. St. Ignatius and St. Aloysius are some of the most popular statues on display in the university. You can also find the Jundt Art Center and Museum within the boundaries of the university. It was founded in 1995 and exhibits art pieces from different periods.

The U.S. News and World Report dubbed Gonzaga's standards in taking in students as "selective." Gonzaga had 7,162 applications for the class of 2021, but only accepted 67.5% of them. They also only enrolled more than a thousand from the total applications.
The university competes in the NCAA Division I WCC. “Zags,” their official mascot is a Bulldog. The university has 16 official sports for both men and women division. Their athletic sports include baseball, cross country, basketball, volleyball, and track, and field. After the university's popular "Cinderella" run in 1999, Gonzaga became even more known and made it to the elite's list. Since then, the university played in the NCAA tournament and West Conference for 19 long years. The basketball team of the university bagged 16 West Coast Conference titles. Five NBA round picks also came from their basketball team. Gonzaga University organizes different sports activities on campus for every season. This is open for all students, and more than 50% of the university's population joins the different competitions. They have flag football, dodgeball, badminton, and other tournaments in the fall while they have pickleball, frisbee, and triathlon in the winter. All clubs and school activities on campus are led by the Gonzaga Student Body Association. They elect the officers and council every year, in the spring.
Gonzaga is a diverse university with over 20 religious representations on campus. The university has a student publication called The Gonzaga Bulletin. The publication is mainly staffed by students from the broadcasting and journalism department.
